The Pony Saddle Company First Saddle is designed for young children learning to ride on their first ponies. There is a choice of trees from high withered Sports Show/Pony types to the widest Shetland pony.

Small children on Shetlands are typically placed on a pad type saddle which does nothing to help support them in the correct position, this actually makes learning to ride more difficult, the position of the stirrup bars on such pads can make learning to do the rising trot very difficult and saddle can also move around when they start learning to canter and can cause insecurities.

For the answer to this we have introduced First Saddle, a unique design available only from Ourselves. Although the saddle is available in our flattest trees, the cantle is still high and supportive, giving the feel of a deep, comfortable seat for added security. even on the smallest trees the seat has been specially shaped to give room for the growing child and an

addition of velcro knee blocks so that the position and width of the block can be customised to suit each child individually. The flap is also shorter to accommodate small legs.

The saddle comes in Rich Dark Brown and Black . Seat sizes are 13″,14″, 15″ and 16″, available in all necessary widths however wide or narrow the pony might be 12″ saddles are also available as a custom order. All saddles come with standard four girthing straps to allow all ponies to be accommodated and with wide wool flocked panels and a wide gullet. With a huge fitting range the First Saddle is suitable for all breed’s of ponies with all sizes of riders comfortably accommodated from small child riders to small adults. The saddle is ideal for all natives and show ponies and is the most supportive of our children’s pony saddles and is ideal for the young rider gaining their seat.

As with all saddles available from us a custom saddle can be designed for the individual customer if required with a number of options including custom knee blocks, twist, flap length or suede or doeskin seat or knee rolls so we really can produce the perfect saddle for you, we however recommend that you ride in a standard saddle for the 7 day trial before ordering so we can be sure the correct saddle is made as custom saddles are non returnable.
